Plum Organics Baby Food

I’m embarking on a new adventure.  And I’d like for you to join me, if you will!

So, if you have kids, you may have heard of these food pouches.  The Plum Organics variety, in particular, intrigues me.  They have all of these crazy combinations of fruits, veggies and some sort of grain.  Which is especially helpful to get everything in at once, in a decent portion size and also to be able to take on the go with you fairly easily.

BUT they are super expensive.  We’re talking like $2 EACH!

Since I’ve already been labeled as “that momma” who makes baby food.  I think I’ll also try to make some of these combinations.  Each week I’ll feature a new recipe that we’ve tried and hopefully, we’ll get somewhere without spending a ton of money! (stay-at-home moms ain’t got no dough!)

But, first things first, I totally recommend a few things for you to get started.

We have a heavy duty Cuisinart 16-cup food processor that we got as a wedding present and it is UH-MAZE-ING.  But super expensive, so really any food processor will do.  Save yourself the money and DON’T buy the Baby Bullet.  I’ll review that later for you, but I’ll just start by saying, it’s OK, but not GREAT.

If you are on the go, also, do yourself a favor and buy this:

For $24.99, you really can’t beat it.  I’ll do a post later on about the best way to work with this sucker too.  It’s great, but not fail proof.  There are some tips and tricks you need to know before you start, otherwise you’re going to get super frustrated.

This line also carries both reusable and disposable pouches.  The disposables seem expensive, but when you add everything up (food included), they still are almost $1.50 less than if you were buying the Plum brand at the store.

I use the reusable pouches, a few disposables, and a lot of containers that I can freeze.

To get a lot of bang for your buck, you NEED to get these and/or these (depending on how old your kiddo is).  ‘Take and Toss’ is like gladware for babies.  If it breaks, ain’t no biggie, because they’re so cheap, you can ‘toss’ them.  Since A and I don’t normally go that far during the day, we do a LOT of these containers.

So, let’s get started on our journey!
